In April 675 children were reached by Footprints in the province of Esmeraldas.

From the 22nd through the 24th of April four Footprints programs were carried out in the province of Esmeraldas. These were held in Rocafuerte for 200 children, in Las Vegas for 150 children, in Esmeraldas for 150 children and in Tonsupa for 175.

In the program, the children, as well as the parents received a talk about child abuse, trafficking of minors and domestic violence. By means of the program they were able to learn what to do in cases of abuse. They also learned that they have the right to say NO. At the end of the program the children received a pair of shoes, socks and a small towel. After this, the local volunteers washed the children´s feet and put on their new socks and shoes.

These programs were able to be carried out through the support of the local churches, who are now in charge of the spiritual growth of the people who attended Footprints.
